August Highlights Scrapbook Layout
August wasn’t necessarily a month I’d put in the highlight reel, but when I looked back through my photos, there were still plenty of moments worth keeping.
The Story Behind the Layout
August was a mixed bag. For this layout, I decided to document August 2025, so I scrolled back through the photos on my phone to see what that month actually looked like. My 55th birthday wasn’t exactly one for the highlight reel, but looking through those photos reminded me that August still had plenty of good tucked into it. There were jet boats in Gold Beach, a trip to the sunflower farm, my son-in-law’s birthday, and a trip to the fair with one of the grandkids. I also loved watching the little cousins start figuring out this whole cousin thing and actually playing together more. Apparently toddlers can negotiate relationships too, although their methods may involve significantly more grabbing.
Looking back, I think that’s what I love most about creating these monthly pages. They don’t have to capture everything that happened. A handful of photos can be enough to bring an entire month back.
A Peek at the Recipe
This two-page layout gave me room for nine photos, which made it perfect for pulling together a variety of moments from the month. I used two larger photos to anchor each side of the layout, then filled in the rest with smaller photos that helped round out the story. The repeating strips of patterned paper help tie the two pages together, while still leaving plenty of room for the photos and journaling.
